Mickey Palmasani LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor

I am a care provider seeking to develop and promote with my clients a trusting, non-judgmental, and productive therapeutic space. I earned my undergraduate degree in Education from Lewis University in 2016 and later my Masters degree in Counseling from Villanova University. I have worked as both a teacher and counselor for all student ages from kindergarten to seniors in college for nearly a decade. I am a school counselor and LPC in the Joliet area while also pursuing my LCPC licensure. I work with students of all ages experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, impulse control, and social skills deficits. My therapeutic approach integrates Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and  Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT). I have a passion for working with the neurodivergent population, promoting and supporting the identities of the LGBTQIA+ population, promoting equity, racial justice, women’s rights and social justice. I am a firm believer that the clients are the experts on their own thoughts, feelings, and identities. It is my role as the counselor to aid in their therapeutic journey by promoting a safe and welcoming space where clients can process their feelings and behaviors as well as practice coping skills to best meet the challenges in their lives.
